The Recurring
Dream is a supernatural story. It is borrowed from
England and is set in London. The main character is Kimberly Clark.
Her short name is Kim. She is a young and beautiful woman of 25,
and has many friends. She lives in London. She has a good job. Her life is
normal except a problem which is related to a dream that is strange and
recurring. The person and the place in her dream are completely unknown to her.
Later she sees the dream almost every night.
Kim’s dream always
begins on a country road where she stands. She sees a lane with white fence and
a hedge on each side. And at the end of the lane, on the top of the hill, she sees
a small white cottage with green shutters. She walks up to house through the
lane and goes in. She finds a little old man with white hair and white beard
asleep in a bed of one of the rooms. When she goes near the bed and tries to
talk to him, her dream ends and she wakes in her own apartment in London. The
same thing happens to her every time.
The dream makes a lot
problem for Kim. She frequently talks to her roommate Janet Wilson about
the dream. One day Janet suggests her to go and spend few days in her parent’s
farmhouse. Kim agrees and they leave London early on Saturday morning as the
plan. Kim sits back on the seat and closes her eyes. Shortly, she wakes up
suddenly and exclaims that the house of her dream is there. Janet tries to
persuade her by saying that, it is only her imagination, but Kim makes her stop
the car and gets out of it. After that she walks slowly up the lane and gets to
the house. Everything in front of her is same as in her dream except a FOR
SALE signal that is in front of the house. When she knocks the door, the
same little old man of the dream opens the door, stares at her and immediately
closes it. Kim asks to open the door to talk. The old man opens it a little and
asks what she wants. In hurry Kim talks about the FOR SALE sign.
Kim trembles and she stammers while speaking with the old man. When Kim asked
the old man about the for sale sign on the door of the house, the old man
replies that he is sure that she will not buy the house. When Kim asks why, he
replies that the ghost haunts the house. When Kim asks who that ghost is, the
old man whispers that the ghost is KIM HERSELF and then shuts the door.
